Consumer Forum directed a builder to pay Rs. 11.50 Lakhs for failure to provide OC.

The Mumbai Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum recently held the builders guilty for deficiency in services and ordered them to pay to a Housing Society at Borivali an amount of more than Rs. 11.50 Lakhs for failure to fulfil the Statutory and contractual obligations. In this matter the Consumer Court have also considered compensation of a sum of more than Rs 2 Lakhs towards Legal and other expenses for causing a deficiency of services.

Thane based Builder ordered to pay Rs. 7.5 Lakhs for giving a Smaller Flat examines Adv. R. P. Rathod.



The Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission recently ordered a Thane based Builder M/S Animesh Enterprises to pay Mr. Mangesh. Ghadge. a total of Rs 7.5 Lakhs for causing a deficit of 150 sq ft area. Alternatively, the builder will have to provide 150sq ft area to the Complainant.

Adv. R. P. Rathod. throws light on the facts of the Case: On June 6, 1999, Ghadge and the builders entered into an agreement. The builder had agreed to sell the flat measuring 600 sq ft on the 3rd floor of the proposed building. The 222.4 sq meter land at Lohar Lane, Thane, on which the construction was set to take place, belonged to Ghadge. The agreement also provided that the completed flat would be handed over on or before November 27, 2001.

Lokhandwala Construction company, ordered by the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to pay a Sion resident Rs. 25 lakh towards Compensation




In an recent Order passed by the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, the forum have held Lokhandwala Constructions liable for “Deficiency in Service” & have ordered them to pay Rs 25 lakh as compensation to the Complainant. An analysis of the said order by Adv. R. P. Rathod.

Adv. R. P. Rathod. says that in this matter the Complainant Mr. Bala. Ayer., had alleged that Lokhandwala Constructions sold-off the Flat to a third party for which he had paid Rs 43.7 lakh.

China builds a 30-story Hotel in just 15 days, Why can’t Builders in India build atleast a Single Floor in that time


The 183,000sq.ft. Ark Hotel in the South Central Chinese City of Changsha took just 360 hours to build.

Having already set the record of erecting a 15-story building in one week, Chinese construction company Broad Group decided to take it up a notch & assemble a 30-story Hotel in just 15 days with complete Interiors.

The construction of the hotel, near Dongting Lake in the Hunan Province, took 200 workers and is set to open on January 18. To expedite the process, sections of the building were prefabricated in factories and shipped to the site before construction.
